Make art your messenger, make design your vehicle. When real change demands real talk, how do you unveal an uncomfortable truth?
Most people think that buying an electric car is, in itself, a sustainable choice. What makes it truly sustainable is charging it with renewable energy. Most car makers don’t want you to know that. But Polestar isn’t like most car brands—Polestar owners aren’t like most people.
Polestar’s mission is to make driving completely carbon-neutral by 2030. Simply producing zero-emission cars isn’t enough. They need to inspire people not only to buy those cars, but to drive and charge them sustainably.
To wrap a delicate message in an appealing package, we partnered with the Stedelijk Museum, a global leader in contemporary art and design. They invited award-winning ecological artist Thijs Biersteker to create a wind-powered sculpture called We Harvest Wind, an interactive experience designed to put the power of renewable energy into people’s hands.
Then, we invited multi-awarded solar designer Marjan van Aubel to bring the message from the museum to the masses. Her cutting-edge talk exposed the truth about green energy online, in cinemas and in the press.
Finally, Polestar offered its Dutch customers discounts to switch to a local green energy contract with Vandebron. Because inspiration without action is just hot air.
Our work for Polestar Woven grew every key brand driver: design, innovation and particularly sustainability, in which it outperformed all other competitors including Tesla. Proving that art and design can make a difference—not just for brands, but for the planet.
